Happy Belated Highlights:
November 28 Meeting Highlights
By Keith Cooper
Well, here we are on the eve of our January meeting and I'm just writing the summary
for November. Better late than never, but fortunately (or unfortunately to those
of us who miss the MUG when we don't have our monthly fix) there's just one story
to tell.
We met on November 28, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and maybe it was still the
groggies from all that turkey but it was a laid back meeting.
There were six of us in attendance and the meeting was even more casual than usual.
Kathy spent the first 20 minutes or so troubleshooting Netscape's mail feature. By
the time I arrived, late as usual, we were on to rumors of the upcoming MacWorld
Expo in San Francisco.
As I write this, the Keynote is six hours away and we're waiting patiently to find
out what Steve will pull the covers off. Rumors abound about new hardware offerings
and updates to the existing lineup. All of this could explain the huge price drops
in Apple products this month. If you have a decent internet connection and two hours
or so to spend glued to your Mac, you might want to go to http://stream.apple.akadns.net/keynote.html
at Noon today to watch streaming video of the Keynote address.
The rest of November's meeting we turned into a loose planning meeting. We decided
to take a holiday in December, because most of our
schedules fill up in the busiest month of the year. We also decided that January
would bring more to announce with MacWorld going on before the meeting. At the time
we were planning on our own Michael Duke being there to represent our MUG in person
but he had a change of plans and will not be our vicarious host.
The planning for the January meeting was all about the day. Because of scheduling
changes the Tuesday night norm was quickly ruled out and as
an alternative we decided a complete change might be in order. We opted for a Saturday
lunch-time scenario, where members provide their own
meal. I think it'll make a good change of pace.
I hope the turnout will be good. Perhaps the new date and time will be a shot-in-the-arm
for attendance.
Thanks as always to the Barfoots and Bethany for the hospitality.
Special thanks to Kathy for her leadership and organization. We would be a mess
without her. Until next time.
Respectfully,
Keith Cooper
