May 12th Meeting HighlightsBy Kathy Holton
Upon arrival Earl had set up a very nice snack table with raisin bread and butter, drinks (hot and cold), etc. However he had to go back home and not stay with us for the meeting. We missed you and Lesley, hope you can make the next meeting. We all appreciate your warm enthusiastic welcome to Bethany for our meetings. The rest of us that showed up ate lunch and talked of OS X. I received a box of OS X demos yesterday and was happily surprised to find they also work on Windows machines. So if anyone is interested in showing OS X on a PC let me know. I probably have 25 or so CD's left. After lunch Tom Bidwell gave us a demonstration of his "stop motion animation" classes. Tom normally teaches this to 8th graders at Hammondsport Central School. This is a link to his students work...http://www.hport.wnyric.org/artStuff/artstuff4.htm Tom used a Power Computing Clone with 128MB, an older analog camera, small TV and Adobe Premier to create his animation. Premier seemed very easy to use, drag and drop capabilities, it also allowed him to record sounds and import them into the animation. Thank you Tom, for this demonstration. I gave Tom a nice OS X and Flat Panel Display Poster, sent to us by Apple. A question was raised about whether I knew of members that were looking for older computer parts. Monitors, software, accessories, etc. Maybe you would like to meet members who have parts they don't need anymore. Do we want to have a for sale or wanted list? Let me know, or just email me and I will add it to the updates I send. As I was cleaning up some questions raised about OS X again. So we will plan on a very basic demo for the June meeting. Then answer members questions as they come up. Maybe a few members who have OS X up and running can bring their Macs so we can break up into a few small groups. Let me know. |
